What’s the difference between assisted living and memory care?
Assisted living offers help with everyday activities — medications, bathing, dressing — for seniors who are otherwise social and engaged. Memory care is a secure, purpose-built neighborhood with specially trained staff for residents living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Most Abbington communities offer both, so residents can move between them seamlessly if needs change.
How much does it cost, and what’s included?
Pricing starts around $3,000/month and depends on the community, apartment size, and level of care. Your monthly rate is all-inclusive — apartment, utilities, three daily chef-prepared meals, housekeeping, laundry, activities, transportation, and 24-hour staff. There are no buy-in fees or surprise add-ons. We’re happy to provide a clear, itemized quote for free.
What happens if my loved one’s care needs increase?
Because most Abbington communities offer independent living, assisted living, and memory care under one roof, residents can transition to a higher level of care without the upheaval of moving to a new community. We reassess care plans regularly and adjust as needs change.
Can couples live together, even with different care needs?
Absolutely. Couples are welcome to share an apartment, and our flexible care plans mean each partner can receive exactly the level of support they need — even if one needs assisted living and the other independent living.
Are pets allowed?
Yes — we know pets are family. Most communities are pet-friendly with some guidelines. Ask your local community about specifics when you tour.
How do I know when it’s time for senior living?
Common signs include difficulty with daily tasks, missed medications, recent falls, weight loss, isolation, or caregiver burnout in the family. If you’re unsure, our care team can help you assess the situation with no pressure — start with our 1-minute care finder or give us a call.
Do you offer short-term or respite stays?
Many of our communities offer short-term respite stays — ideal for recovery after a hospital visit, a trial stay, or giving a family caregiver a well-earned break. Contact your nearest community for availability.
Is there a large entrance or buy-in fee?
No. Unlike many senior living providers, Abbington does not charge a large buy-in or entrance fee. You pay a simple, all-inclusive monthly rate.
